KIBBUTZ CONTEMPORARY DANCE COMPANY

Founded in 1970, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company has developed into one of Israel ’s most prominent dance companies and has gained international renown through its extensive worldwide touring. Artistic Director Rami Be’er has created more than 40 works for the company – mostly full-evening pieces that imagine a complete world through expressive choreography, dynamic dancing, and imaginative sets and lighting effects. The company also has a special repertoire of works for children and young people that explores a world of fantasy and imagination through movement, energy, and rhythm. KCDC will tour North America in the spring of 2011.

EKODOOM is an incisive observation of and about our selves. The work calls our attention, even if unwillingly, to the processes of destruction and devastation perpetrated by man.

In a penetrating and enthralling sequence of scenes, Be'er creates a world with all its component parts and possibilities; the harsh, cruel, gray world in conflict, and the world of fantasy, dreams and romance. Our overburdened daily routine serves as a massive protective wall against all that we prefer not to see, not to know. But in EKODOOM this wall, too, collapses.
